Locked it at 30 degrees for my bench chisels and every one came off the stone with the same bevel. That repeatability is the whole reason to own a guide - freehand I was rounding the edge over without noticing.
2 weeks agoThe roller has actual bearings in it, so it tracks straight instead of rocking side to side on the waterstone. My old guide had a plain axle and it wandered. Big difference in how even the bevel comes out.
3 weeks agoClamped a 2-inch plane iron and a quarter-inch mortise chisel with the same guide, no adapters. Laser-etched angle marks are still perfectly legible after a lot of use - they are etched, not printed.
1 month agoWell made, aluminium and stainless, no rust in a damp garage. Worth saying the stone and the chisels are not included, the photos are just demonstrating - I expected that but a friend did not.
1 month agoAngle setting is accurate once you get the hang of it, but the first few setups took me a while to understand and I clamped a blade slightly crooked. Check the blade is square and tight before you start pushing, or you grind an uneven bevel and have to start over.
