Latch recess in three steps

  1. Check the door

    Confirm the door is 1-3/8" or 1-3/4" thick and set the template on the edge.

  2. Cut in steps

    Work down through the 1, 2 and 3 mm reference positions.

  3. Fit the latch

    Test-fit the latch plate and screw it in place.

Why it does not overcut

  • Stepped depth positions guide the cut a millimeter at a time.
  • The template keeps the recess straight and the edges even.
  • Fits the two most common wood door thicknesses.

No. It is made for the latch side only.

I have never fitted a latch. Is it hard?

The template sets position and depth, so it is a good first-install tool. Go one depth step at a time.
