Hung five interior doors this weekend. Scored the outline with the built-in blade, chiselled to the line, and every latch plate dropped in flush. No more eyeballing the mortise with a utility knife and a prayer.

First time fitting a latch and it came out looking like a pro did it. The guide holds the position for you so you are only chiselling, not measuring and chiselling at the same time.

Works well, just be aware you supply your own chisel and hammer. That is stated up front, I just did not read it and had to make a trip to the shed mid-job.

Flipped it over for the 1-3/4 setting on the exterior door and it lined up the same as it did on the interior slabs. One tool covered both thicknesses in the house.

The scoring blade is the part that sold me. Severing the fibres first means the chisel does not tear out along the grain, so the mortise edges stay sharp instead of fuzzy.

I was doubtful about a plastic body until I actually used it. Twenty-odd mortises in and there is no cracking and no rounding where the mallet lands. It has earned its place in the bag.

Replaced all the hardware in a rental unit. Twelve latches, same setup every time, and the recesses all came out the same depth. That consistency is what I paid for.

No issue with the tool — it cuts a clean mortise and I have no complaint about how it works. Three weeks to arrive though, which is longer than I expected, and the box turned up with a dented corner. Contents were fine, just slower than I would have liked.

The 1-3/4 setting held just as true on a heavy exterior slab as the 1-3/8 did on the bedroom doors. One tool, whole house.

Box arrived pretty banged up, dented on two corners and the tape had come loose. Tool inside was undamaged and works fine, but the packaging could be a lot better for something being posted this far.
