Latch recess in three steps

  1. Set the guide

    Adjust it for your door thickness and center it over the latch hole.

  2. Strike to score

    Tap the guide with a hammer. The blade cuts the outline of the plate.

  3. Chisel it out

    Pare the wood inside the scored line to the plate depth.
