Mortised in three steps

  1. Clamp it on

    Clamp the jig to the door edge at the hinge position.

  2. Set length and depth

    Set the guide to your hinge length and the depth gauge to the leaf thickness.

  3. Rout it

    Rout in two light passes. Square the corners with a chisel if your hinges are square.

  • Depth gauges stop the router at the same depth on every hinge.
  • Knobs clamp the jig hard to the door, so it cannot creep mid-cut.
  • Guides are marked for 2-1/2", 3", 3-1/2", 4", 4-1/2" and 5" hinges.

Is a router included?

No. You supply the router; the bit is included.

Can it do square-corner hinges?

It routs the mortise, then you square the corners with a chisel. Any router cuts a radius.
